Criminal case opened against Thapelo Amad

A criminal case has been opened against Johannesburg MMC for Community Development planning, Thapelo Amad, after he allegedly fired multiple shots into the air during a funeral gathering in Lufhereng, Soweto in August last year.

The Democratic Alliance in Johannesburg laid the charges on Friday, claiming his actions endangered mourners and were captured on video circulating on social media.

The party has also criticized Mayor Dada Morero for failing to act or publicly address the allegations.
