SAQA removes over 1 000 outdated qualifications

South Africa's education and training landscape is undergoing its most massive overhaul in over a decade.

Working alongside the Department of Higher Education and Training and the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations, The South African Qualifications Authority, SAQA, has removed more than 1 000 pre-2009 qualifications from the national register.

According to SAQA, many of the qualifications being phased out were developed under an older framework that no longer reflects the current labour market or industry requirements.
