Two days after the US Department of Justice indicted former President Rahul Castro, cuban authorities and supporters gathered outside the US Embassy in Havana to reject the move.
The government questioned the legality and motivation behind the indictment, while Castro’s daughter said he remains calm and sees it as part of long-standing tensions between Cuba and the United States.
The developments come as Cuba faces a worsening humanitarian crisis, with a prolonged fuel shortage and power disruptions adding pressure on daily life.
Al Jazeera’s Julia Galiano reports from Havana.
