NMB residents march against crime, drug abuse

Nelson Mandela Bay residents marched from KwaZakhele to New Brighton township, to demonstrate against crime, drug abuse and undocumented migrants. The two Gqeberha townships are notorious for crime.

The march led by the Vukuzenzele organisation comes against the backdrop of fourth quarter crime stats, which highlighted Kwazakhele Police Station as one with the highest murder reports in the country.

The New Brighton Police Station is in 8th place for the highest murder rate in the first term of 2026. Anda Nqonji reports.
