Crime Stats | SAPS releases Q4 stats for 2025/26 financial year

Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia says serious crime has declined slightly nationally but remains at unacceptably high levels.

Releasing the fourth-quarter crime statistics for 2025/2026, he said contact crimes dropped by 4.6%, representing 7,405 fewer cases than the previous year.

He added that murders fell by 9.5%, showing some improvement. However, Cachalia warned that overall levels of violence and criminality in South Africa remain deeply concerning.
