The U.S. is not leaving Europe yet | News in Depth

Foreign ministers from all 32 NATO member states have gathered in the Swedish city of Helsingborg, following President Donald Trump’s unexpected announcement that 5,000 U.S. troops will be sent to Poland.

On the ground at the NATO talks is TVP World Defense Correspondent Zuzanna Jurek, who spoke to News in Depth. Jurek says there are still many unanswered questions surrounding the presence of U.S. troops.

It remains unclear whether the announcement involves an additional 5,000 soldiers, or the replacement of those already stationed in Poland as part of rotational deployments.

The key question persists: Would Europe be able to defend itself in the event of a significant reduction in U.S. military presence?
