When the Korean War broke out in 1950, Canada helped Korea by dispatching 26,791 troops. Among them was the late William John Chrysler. He is also known for a famous photograph showing him assisting an injured comrade during the fierce Battle of Kapyong. He fought to defend S. Korea at the age of 20, returned to Korea in his 40s to contribute to the nuclear power industry, and after passing away at the age of 94, was laid to rest at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Korea in Busan. In this episode we introduce the story of Koreans and Canadians who were connected through the Battle of Kapyong 75 years ago.
