Tensions remain high outisde Diakonia Centre as undocument immigrants camp there

The Department of Home Affairs has started verifying the legal and refugee status of foreign nationals sheltering at the Diakonia Centre in Durban.

The group -- including women and children-- has now spent several nights outside the centre, after leaving their homes due to fears of intimidation, alleged assaults, and threats linked to anti-immigration tensions in parts of the city.
