Climate Change | Climate extremes getting more frequent

As part of our special focus today, we take a closer look at South Africa's volatile and increasingly unpredictable weather conditions — following the devastating storms, flooding, and severe cold fronts that swept through parts of the Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Northern Cape, and North West over the past two weeks. We now cross live to Ayanda Nyathi at the South African Weather Service in Centurion, Pretoria.

As experts continue to warn that Southern Africa is becoming increasingly prone to more frequent and more intense extreme weather events as global temperatures rise, and as wether service Lead forecaster Dr Zwane whom you spoke to earlier reaffirmed that global warming is the first and most direct effect of climate change.
