Southeast Asia will need closer coordination between governments, utilities, regulators and investors to turn momentum behind the ASEAN Power Grid into real projects and financing, says Tan Sue-Ern, head of the Regional Cooperation Centre at the International Energy Agency (IEA). Speaking to CNA’s Elakeyaa Selvaraji at Ecosperity Week, Tan says stronger cross-border power connections are critical to meeting rising electricity demand, integrating more renewable energy and improving energy security across Southeast Asia.
