Vulnerable communities to be hardest hit by freezing weather conditions

Winter is fast approaching and temperatures across Gauteng are expected to drop sharply in June, especially at night and during the early mornings.

Residents living in informal settlements in Midrand, north of Johannesburg, are expected to face harsh conditions due to poor infrastructure that is not suited for extreme cold weather.

Our special weather focus looks at how vulnerable communities will be affected health wise during the winter season. Many residents say they struggle to stay warm.

Authorities and community organisations are being urged to assist those most at risk before winter fully sets in.
