There was a need to once again remember the pain of 1000 years of the destruction of Somnath, and also to remember the bravery embedded within that pain. How many times was Somnath destroyed?

And tomorrow marks 75 years since Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel saw a dream and took a resolve. 75 years ago today, the Somnath temple was reconsecrated. Dr. Rajendra Prasad had come there. He came despite many obstacles and opposition. He came despite likes and dislikes. But he understood the greatness of heritage and knew the roots of the nation. And therefore, without listening to anyone else, Dr. Rajendra Prasad came to Somnath.
