President Cyril Ramaphosa has hailed the recipients of the 2026 National Orders as men and women whose contributions have helped shape a democratic South Africa founded on equality, justice and dignity for all.
Andiswa Gebashe, who you will have seen in most presidential addresses, has been honoured with the prestigious Order of Ikhamanga for her outstanding contribution to South African Sign Language, and for advancing inclusion and accessibility for the deaf community.
The award recognises her years of dedication to breaking communication barriers and championing equal access to information and public life for deaf South Africans.
