Lu Ying, a young Chinese girl, is currently pursuing a PhD in journalism at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia. Before studying abroad, her impression of Russia was limited to the "fighting spirit" and frozen landscapes.
After actually living in Moscow, she discovered a city filled with parks, white summer nights and people who may seem cold at first, yet are warm-hearted. Her advisor patiently helped her revise her papers; her classmates willingly shared their notes. What moved her most was a Russian grandma who rummaged through her cabinet and pulled out a faded photograph of herself with a Chinese student from the 1980s. "This Chinese friend helped me and I will always remember it," she said. That moment made Lu realize that China-Russia friendship is not just a phrase in news releases; it's the memories and goodwill of ordinary people.
Looking ahead, Lu hopes to document the lives and emotions of ordinary Russians through journalism. She believes that China-Russia cooperation is not about oil pipelines and railways. More importantly, it's about understanding between people. There's not only snow here, but also warmth.
