As it weighs the feasibility of nuclear energy, Singapore will, in 2027, embark on the first phase of an Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure Review set out by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The review will assess whether Singapore has the expertise, institutions and frameworks to make an informed decision on nuclear energy, said Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the 25th anniversary gala dinner for the Energy Market Authority (EMA) on Tuesday (May 19).
"Let me be clear what this means – and what it does not mean. This is not a decision to deploy nuclear energy in Singapore. The purpose of the Phase 1 Review is to assess whether Singapore is ready to make an informed decision on nuclear energy deployment," he said. #singapore #sgnews
