Ebola outbreak in Congo & Uganda a global health emergency: WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the growing Ebola outbreak — caused by the rare Bundibugyo virus strain for which there is no vaccine — in eastern Congo and Uganda a ‘public health emergency.’

While about 300 suspected cases and over 80 deaths have been reported, the agency says the outbreak does not meet the criteria of a pandemic emergency.
