On Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Sweden, MEA Secretary (West) Sibi George emphasised that the visit witnessed substantive outcomes and marked an important milestone in India–Sweden relations. He said the Prime Minister’s first Europe visit after the India–EU FTA agreement underlined the growing momentum in bilateral engagement, and he noted key high-level meetings with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. He highlighted that delegation-level talks covered the full spectrum of bilateral relations and global developments in a challenging geopolitical environment. He praised the decision to elevate ties to a Strategic Partnership for the first time, structured around four key pillars including strategic dialogue for stability and security, next-generation economic partnership, emerging technologies and trusted connectivity, and shaping tomorrow through planet, people, health and resilience.
