Family pursues civil claim after relative killed in prison

The family of a Northern Cape man who was allegedly killed by prison wardens at the De Aar Correctional Centre are pursuing a civil claim.

The 31-year-old inmate died after being assaulted last month after allegedly stabbing a warder with a sharp object.

Six prison warders, who allegedly beat up the deceased, were arrested and are out on bail.
