Former North West Premier Bushy Maape dies

Former North West Premier Bushy Maape has passed away at the age of 68.

His family says he died in hospital in Johannesburg on Saturday following a short illness. Maape skipped the country after the 1976 student uprising and received political and military training from the ANC.

He served as the North West premier from 2021 to 2024. Meanwhile, ANC Members in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda Region will meet in Klerksdorp. They are dissatisfied with the current state of the party in the province, citing irregularities in how amongst others regional conferences are conducted.
