Heavy rains trigger flooding across parts of Taiwan

Torrential rains from the outer bands of passing Typhoon Mekkhala have triggered flash floods across Taipei and southern Taiwan, heavily impacting Kaohsiung and Pingtung on Thursday (Jun 25). In the north, torrential downpours have caused severe flooding in Taipei's Neihu District, turning streets into rivers and trapping vehicles in deep water.

No casualties have been reported so far but authorities warn that heavy rain will continue over the coming days and urge residents to stay alert.
