Climate warning | Expert weighs in on future risks

South Africa continues to experience unusual and extreme weather patterns, with devastating floods and storms affecting several parts of the country, including the Western Cape, North West and even the Northern Cape — a province not commonly associated with severe flooding.

The recent severe weather has raised growing concern about the impact of climate change and what these changing weather patterns could mean for communities, infrastructure, agriculture and livelihoods across the country.
