Israel and Lebanon have agreed to extend their ceasefire by an additional 45 days following talks between officials in Washington, DC, aimed at preventing a wider regional escalation.
Despite the extension, Israeli strikes and evacuation orders have continued in southern Lebanon, where residents say daily life remains disrupted by ongoing military activity. Since the ceasefire began in April, hundreds of people have reportedly been killed in Israeli strikes across Lebanon.
Meanwhile in Gaza, Israeli forces say they carried out a strike targeting a senior Hamas official in Gaza City. Palestinian officials report that at least seven people were killed and dozens wounded after attacks hit residential areas west of the city.
The latest developments come as diplomats push for continued negotiations, while concerns grow over repeated ceasefire violations and the risk of renewed broader conflict across the region.
