Swartruggens drug lab case postponed

The case against Eleven accused, including five Mexican nationals, who were arrested in connection with a large scale illegal drug lab in Swartruggens in North West has been postponed by the local Magistrates Court for seven days for interpreters, verification of immigration status and possible formal bail application.

The eleven were arrested following a police intelligence-driven operation which led to the discovery of, among others, an illegal drug manufacturing facility worth over a billion rand and approximately 481 kilograms of methamphetamine.

Police say forensic experts are still processing the crime scene and while the owners of the property have not yet been located, the owner's son and other relatives are among those arrested.
