South Africa becomes the top citrus exporter

South Africa is now officially the world's leading citrus exporter. The country narrowly overtook Spain in 2025 export volumes, shipping nearly 3 million tons of citrus to international markets. Industry leaders say the milestone highlights South Africa's growing dominance in global agricultural exports, but warn that rising shipping costs, tariffs and market access challenges, continue to place pressure on local growers.
