Barack Obama gets emotional during Michelle Obama's Presidential Center speech

Former US president Barack Obama appeared emotional during a speech by his wife, Michelle Obama, at the inauguration of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago on Thursday (Jun 18).

As Michelle paid tribute to her husband’s character, leadership and commitment to public service, Obama was seen wiping his eyes and appearing to hold back tears.

The former first lady praised Obama's "stubborn optimism", "unflinching courage" and "absolutely unshakable moral fibre", adding that he never lost sight of the communities he served long before entering the White House.
