‘Never mess it up’: China’s Xi warns Trump about Taiwan at Beijing summit

US President Donald Trump concluded the first day of his two-day visit to China with a state banquet, during which Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasised that the China-US relationship is the most important bilateral relationship in the world. Beijing reiterated that Taiwan is the most sensitive issue in US-China relations and called for stability and cooperation. A White House official said both countries agreed Iran must never have a nuclear weapon and the Strait of Hormuz must remain open, suggesting Beijing may use its influence to push Iran towards a US deal.
