Palestine Solidarity Committee observes Nakba Day

A rally organised by the Palestine Solidarity Committee to observe Nakba Day was hosted at Cape Town's Castle of Good Hope.

Nakba Day commemorates the 1948 Palestinian catastrophe or 'Nakba', when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were displaced from their villages and towns after the establishment of the state of Israel.

In 1998, Nakba Day was officially designated by the late Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat but it is marked every year by Palestinians on May 15 with demonstrations, rallies, and moments of silence.
