Western Cape grapples with learner placements

Members of Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Basic Education are livid that the Western Cape Education Department does not know if there are still learners in the province who have not been placed in schools. The WCED appeared before the committee today to respond to allegations of learner exclusion. With the school year halfway through, MPs were shocked to hear from civic organisation, Equal Education, that there are still parents battling to have their kids accommodated in the system.
