Off-duty nurse hailed for saving choking woman at Malaysia hospital

Staff nurse Siti Maisyura had just finished her night shift at an Ipoh hospital on May 4 and was waiting for her son’s follow-up appointment when a woman at cafe nearby began choking on her food.

In CCTV footage shared by the hospital, Ms Siti is seen rushing to the woman’s aid and performing the Heimlich manoeuvre to clear her airway.

As a crowd begins to gather around them, the woman is seen regaining her composure thanks to the nurse's quick actions.

The hospital later awarded Ms Siti a token of appreciation for her swift response. #malaysia #malaysianews
