China’s Unitree unveils GD01, the world’s first rideable ‘mecha’ you can buy

Chinese robotics firm Unitree has unveiled a manned mechanical suit that can switch between walking on two legs and moving on four.

The “GD01” — priced from 3.9 million yuan (US$574,470) — can carry a human pilot and traverse both urban streets and rough terrain. A newly-released demo video shows founder and CEO Wang Xingxing climbing aboard and strapping himself into the device, which is also able to punch through a brick wall.
