South Korea weighs phased role in Hormuz mission amid stalled US-Iran talks

South Korea is reviewing its participation in a US-led effort to ensure safe passage in the Strait of Hormuz. Defence Minister Ahn Gyu-back said Seoul could contribute in a "phased manner", including declaring political support, dispatching personnel, sharing information or supplying military assets. However, he added there was no in-depth discussion on involving the South Korean military. Mr Ahn had met US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth at the Pentagon earlier this week. The key waterway is still under Iranian blockade amid stalled negotiations between Washington and Tehran. Blake Sifton reports from Tel Aviv.
