Lesotho's prisons in bad state

Lesotho's Ombudsman, Tlotliso Polaki, has released a scathing follow-up report, decrying a troubling pattern of systemic neglect in the past three years since the publication of a previous report on human rights violations at mental health facilities and correctional facilities.

The Ombudsman says 70 of the 97 recommendations made for the Mohlomi Mental Health Facility remain unimplemented, while deteriorating infrastructure and inadequate nutritional programmes continue to plague correctional facilities across the country.
