Ecuador-Colombia political tensions cripple border trade and fuel smuggling

A growing political rift between Colombia and Ecuador is escalating into a trade war, disrupting commerce at one of South America’s busiest border crossings.
The neighbours have imposed heavy tariffs on each other’s imports, raising concerns of increased smuggling and economic pain on both sides of the border.
