Accused Ekurhuleni City Manager Kagiso Lerutla to return to work

Ekurhuleni City Manager, Kagiso Lerutle, is expected to return to work tomorrow morning, 11 May 2026.

That's despite being due to appear before the Boksburg Magistrates' Court next Wednesday to face fraud, corruption and defeating the ends of justice charges.

He and suspended EMPD Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi are currently out on 30-thousand rand bail each.

Ekurhuleni mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza has indicated that Lerutla is not on suspension but on special leave.
