Powerful winds and dust swept through Harbin in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province on Sunday, turning the sky dark within minutes and sending debris flying through the streets. Local media reported that the city had seen unusually high temperatures before cold air triggered severe convective weather. While one extreme weather event does not by itself indicate a climate anomaly, scientists say global warming is increasing the likelihood of extreme weather events. #worldnow
