Summer in bloom: Alpine azaleas blanket Yaoshan mountains in southwest China

High in the mountains of southwest China's Yunnan Province, summer arrives in an explosion of color. At the Yaoshan National Nature Reserve in Qiaojia County, wild alpine azaleas are now in full bloom, covering hillsides and meadows in vibrant shades of red, pink and white. Home to 32 species of azaleas, Yaoshan is not only a spectacular floral landscape, but also one of northeast Yunnan's most important ecological treasures.
