Celebrating 30 years of SA Constitution

As South Africa marks 30 years of its Constitution, we celebrate a document born out of unity, sacrifice, and the promise of democracy.

Drafted between 1994 and 1996 by the Constitutional Assembly under the leadership of figures including Cyril Ramaphosa and Roelf Meyer, the Constitution was signed into law by Nelson Mandela on the 10th of December 1996.

Widely regarded as one of the best constitutions in the world, it stands as a global symbol of human rights, equality, dignity, and freedom, protecting every South African and ensuring that no one is above the law.

Three decades later, its values continue to shape the nation's democratic journey.
