Diesel price surge impact Africa infrastructure projects

The conflict in the Middle East that sees allies, the United States and Israel, pitted against Iran, has seen global energy prices soar as a result to disruptions to the supply of oil and gas to many regions of the world.

Diesel is a core input cost across mining operations in South Africa and around the world, and a surge in its price sees projects stall or sometimes fail.

Following the latest ceasefire developments in Iran, attention is turning to whether easing geopolitical tensions could stabilise fuel prices - a key cost driver for mining and infrastructure projects across Africa.
