Police to Intensify Crackdown on Criminal Gangs Ahead of General Election

Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service Eliud Lagat has ordered a renewed crackdown on criminal gangs and politically instigated violence ahead of the country’s electioneering period. Speaking during a sub-county commanders’ conference in Nairobi, Lagat directed officers to take personal responsibility in dismantling organized crime networks within their jurisdictions. The DIG also called for a shift in mindset within the service to address emerging technology-driven crimes.Ben Chumba reports.
