Officials evacuate 40 residents after river floods

The Kouga Municipality in the Eastern Cape has evacuated 40 people from the Kingsway Village who were trapped in the Gamtoos River Valley after the river burst its banks.

Residents in low-lying areas near the Kromme River mouth have also been asked to evacuate their homes.

The Kouga area has been hit hard by heavy rains this week, causing significant damage to property.
