US and Philippines conclude largest-ever Balikatan annual joint military exercise

The US and the Philippines have ended their annual joint military exercises known as Balikatan, which means "shoulder-to-shoulder" in Tagalog. Officials have described the three-week drills as the largest and most multinational Balikatan exercise ever held in the Philippines. Around 17,000 combined troops participated, including those from Australia, New Zealand, France, Canada and Japan. This year's Balikatan also coincided with the 75th anniversary of the Mutual Defense Treaty between Manila and Washington. Mariejo Ramos reports from Metro Manila.
