The sustainability of the local airline industry is being threatened by the surge in jet fuel prices and supply security fears. This emerged on day-one of the 2026 National Aviation Conference. The cost of Jet A1 fuel has more than doubled following the US and Israel's attack on Iran, and the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
