Chile landfill raises methane concerns near Santiago

A major landfill near Chile’s capital, Santiago, is drawing concern over methane emissions from organic waste. Al Jazeera’s Lucia Newman reports from outside Loma Los Colorados, where much of the city’s rubbish is dumped. The company operating the site says it is working to capture methane and turn it into biofuel, but experts say wider recycling and composting efforts are needed to reduce emissions.
