BBBEE Legal Sector | Concerns raised about potential bias from the Judge

Respondents in the BBBEE legal sector code hearing in the North Gauteng High Court have accused the sitting Judge of possible bias. As the second day came to a close, Senior Counsel, Norman Arendse raised a matter of concern on behalf of some respondents that Judge Nicolene Janse van Nieuwenhuizen made a comment that the collective found unsettling. They say Janse van Nieuwenhuizen made remarks to the effect that the applicant who the are big law firms who are currently complaint with the generic BBBEE code will be left non-complaint under the new code.
