Madlanga Commission | 100 days in - Professor Dumisani Mabunda shares thoughts

Today marks a hundred days since the Commission of Inquiry into Criminality, Political Interference, and Corruption in the Criminal Justice System – informally known as the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry began on the 17th of September 2025.

The Commission was established by President Cyril Ramaphosa to investigate allegations relating to the infiltration of law enforcement, intelligence and associated institutions within the criminal justice system by criminal syndicates.

Since then, the Commission has heard numerous evidence from witnesses, including, Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, Minister of Police, Senzo Mchunu, who is currently on special leave and suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya.

To look back at the work already done, we are joined by Professor Dumisani Mabunda, from the College of Law, Police Practice Department at UNISA.
