Cold weather warning for Western Cape

The South African Weather Service has issued a warning about a cold frontal system hitting the Western Cape.

SABC News Reporter Vanessa Poonah spoke to a forecaster from the South African Weather Service, Stacy Colborne, who says the system will bring rainfall to parts of the Western Cape, followed by a brief period of clearing.

However, residents are being cautioned to remain alert, as a cut off low system is forecast to affect the province from Tuesday evening through to Thursday.

This is expected to bring scattered to widespread showers, strong interior and coastal winds, high sea waves and possible snowfall over parts of the Karoo.

Authorities have urged residents to stay informed, take necessary precautions and prepare for potentially hazardous weather conditions as the systems move through the region.
