The thing I don't understand about him is why he continues to say nobody is working on the alignment problem. Every frontier lab is pouring in a mountain of cash in alignment training. Anthropic has psychologists and all kinds of therapists working on this in combination with the researchers. They are not the only ones. Should we trust these companies? No. But should we continue to say the same thing about nobody is working on it? That kind of alarmism is not beneficial either as all it does is scare people into irrational actions.
