Halfmens plant faces extinction after drought

In a further blow to saving the unique Halfmens plant, indigenous to the Richtersveld in the Northern Cape, Botanists say incubating them away from the veld, is not showing the results they had hoped for. A Single drought event in the Richtersveld has decimated the Pachypodium namaquanum or Halfmense by more than 80 percent. Botanists in the area say another event like this could wipe out the entire species.
