A lot of older naturalized citizens didn’t go through proper US government/political systems classes, therefore, they bring much of their old country’s political beliefs into ours. I am myself an immigrant, but I grow up in the US and went through the entire K12 in the US. The difference is night and day. Even my wife, who is from France, did her under and advanced degrees in the US, does not have a full understanding of our systems. We need to properly educate immigrants before they become citizens
