Maybe also test which controllers are best to pair with Linux gaming pc's (bazzite, steamos etc) I use mainly a steam deck and a amd gaming pc with bazzite. No problems with games only with some (older) controllers, steering wheels etc that so 't work out of the box or won't work at all sometimes

God damn guys, learn about using flux, leaded solder to bring down the melting point, right iron tip with enough thermal mass for the job and also an Hakko FR301 with the right tips to suck the solder.
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79s8O7Cipl0&t=530">8:50</a> while for most things I just use solder wick and one of the cheap desoldering plunger sucker thingies, when I was doing this to my PS4 controllers I just bought a cheap desoldering iron, they're not that expensive and I somehow broke one of my PS4 controllers trying to go without. <br><br>I'm not sure what kind of solder those controllers use but the PS4 controller is apparently a little notorious for having shity solder (for de-soldering) so to anyone who is going to mod PS4 controllers just buy one of the cheap 25.00 soldering irons and save yourself a ton of headache.
When it comes to symmetrical vs nonsymmetrical sticks i like them both for different types of games. So i have controllers of both types since i play exclusively on PC granted i still mainly use KB/Mouse.

Removing those sticks is a lot easier when you add leaded or low melt solder into the joints to bring down the melting point

Asymmetrical is better for games like side-scrollers and racing but symmetrical is better for any kind of game where you need to move and look around at the same time

I'm with David, asymmetrical sticks can get in the bin. I've play on an Xbox controller before and as someone who's been used to symmetrical sticks for roughly 10 years before trying asymmetrical, I just couldn't get on with it. I really tried, but it's not for me.

I feel like everybody thinks they know how to solder but almost nobody actually can do it well. They think it's something that's very easy and while it is easy to do badly to get good at it takes decent amount of time and understanding the benefits of each of the tools and methods.

i still play with my original Xbox 360 Controller, over 3000 hours on it, still working like a champ, had to replace the stick covers twice and thats it.

Never cared for paddles/extra back buttons. just find them annoying. I bought one controller with them once, and never again. Don't like to use them extra back buttons and they make the controllers less comfortable.

Modding is the future of consumer electronics and video games. You want more VRAM? You will either take your GPU to a shop to get additional VRAM modules, or you'll just do it yourself if you have enough know-how. You want to actually own your phone? You will root your device and install a different software, and perhaps even remove any hardware you don't want spying on you.
I hate that I either have to learn how to solder or pay someone to sell me a modified controller/mod my controller just to have a controller that isn’t prone to stick drift and that I can use for PS5 games on PS5.
